Client:Not all business podcasts are no-nonsense. In 2004, two college friends founded Fresh Produce, a mostly just typical ad agency with an art gallery in it. Since then they’ve helped a lot of businesses not fit in very well. The Differentiated Business Podcast with Michael J Hart the Fourth and Theodore J Heeren the First provides a glimpse at what it’s like to work at a one-of-a-kind ad business that specializes in differentiation strategy. If you’re looking for a business podcast about caring for office plants, kazoo collecting, or how to run a Dungeons and Dragons campaign, you just hit the jackpot.
Objective:Establish a recognizable and memorable identity for a podcast about business and ideas that is most authentic to Fresh Produce, and specifically, Mike and Ted.
Solution:Art Director, Cami Lovely and I teamed up to create the podcast’s look—Cami initiated the art direction, and I brought it to life with motion for social and digital platforms.
Her idea to draw inspiration from the works of René Magritte? No-brainer—it was an instant “yes!” The kazoo is a notable object in the Fresh Produce office–so making this the featured icon was right on brand. For special episodes, we broke out the rare golden kazoo.
